In this talk, Dr. Jon Flanders explores the ecological and economic importance of bats, from pollinating iconic fruits like durian to controlling agricultural pests, while highlighting their role in sustaining healthy ecosystems. Drawing on conservation efforts from Southeast Asia to the Americas, Dr. Flanders will connect global action to local relevance in Singapore, offering insights into urban bats, regional collaboration, and how targeted conservation can secure species and habitats for the future.

Dr. Jon Flanders, Director of Endangered Species Interventions at Bat Conservation International, brings over 20 years of global experience studying and protecting bats across Asia and beyond.
