Meeting place: Carpark in front of Alexandra Hospital cafeteria
Time: 09:30 am.
Online guide : Map, website , direction to Alexandra Hospital.

This is the Butterfly Interest Group's first official outing of 2007! Species commonly encountered here
include the very urbanised Lime Butterfly, the very graceful and seductive Painted Jezebel, the diminutive and fast-flying Common Tit, the black and white Common Mormon, the slow and easy Plain Tiger and the Autumn Leaf, a foreign export that has settled down well here. If we are lucky, we may spot visitors from the forest — species like Euthalia adonia pinwilli (Green Baron) and Horaga syrinx maenala (Ambon Onyx).

The walk will last about three hours. Meet at 9.30am at the car park in front of Alexandra Hospital's
cafeteria.

Butterfly Walk at MacRitchie Trail with Simon Chan (9748-5465)
Meeting place: MacRitchie Reservoir Park main entrance carpark
Time: 10:00 am.
Online guide: NParks site, this site and location map

In January, we introduced members to a number of beautiful butterfly species that frequent the butterfly trail at Alexandra Hospital. This time we will take our newly-found butterfly watching skills to the forest.
Members will at once notice the more brilliant colours of forest denizens as compared to the ones in the urban areas. Species encountered here include the regal Royal Assyrian, the very rare Dark Blue Jungle Glory, the big, strong and fast flying Great Helen and many more deep forest dwellers.

Please bring along drinking water and mosquito repellent. This walk will last about two hours.

In this talk, Gan  will give an overview of an anatomy of a butterfly garden, share with you tips on how to attract nature's Painted Wings to your (landed or high rise) garden and clarify some common mis-conceptions about butterfly and caterpillar.
