Jan 14th

Butterfly Walk at Telok Blangah Hill with Simon Chan (9733 5995)
Meet at the first car park at Telok Blangah Green Road at 9:30am.

Jewels seen here include Common Birdwing, Knight, Striped Blue Crow, Five Bar Swordtail and the Blue, Chocolate and Peacock Pansies. As the hill is located close to both urban and forested areas, there is a mix of species from each habitat.
Feb 18th

Butterfly Walk at Sungei Buloh Nature Park with Jing Ling.
Meet at the Visitor Center at 9:30am. (Neo Tiew Crescent, map 20).

We will be taking a leisurely stroll in the park on the left side after the main bridge. Lovelies seen here include the Sumatran Sunbeam, the Blue Glassy Tiger and the similar looking Dark Glassy Tiger, the fast flying Banded Swallowtail and the black and white Common Mormon.  We might encounter the rare Blue Nawab.
Participants are advised to speak quietly as Sungei Buloh is a bird sanctuary.  Please bring enough water and insect repellent for this 2~3 hour walk.
Mar 18th

Butterfly Walk at Upper Seletar Nature Park with Gan Cheong Weei (775-9242)
Meeting place: Viewing tower.
Time: 9.30am.

We will be taking a leisurely stroll around the park which boasts butterflies like Great Mormon, Malay Lacewing, Commander, Common Mormon, Cruiser and many more forest denizens. We hope to see the very rare Dark Blue Jungle Glory, the seasonal Plain Lacewing and the once-a-lifetime encounter, the Chersonesia peraka peraka. Please bring enough water and mosquito repellant. This walk will be around 2 hours.
Apr 22nd

Butterfly Walk at Pulau Ubin with Sabrina Tan (452-0482) 
Meeting place: Changi Village jetty. 
Time: 9.30am.

From the jetty we will be taking a bum boat ride ($2 each way) to the idyllic island. Species spotted there include the rare Blue Nawab, Great Mormon, very common Blue Glassy Tiger and its almost identical cousin Parantica agleoides agleoides. Remember to bring enough water and mosquito repellant. The walk will last about three hours (excluding bum boat ride).
May 20th

Urban Butterfly Walk at Kallang Riverside Park with Simon Chan (9-724-3106)
Meeting place: Station Control of Kallang MRT.
Time: 9.30am

We will be taking a leisurely stroll in the park which is made up of mostly grassland. Be sure to wear long pants as the lallang can give quite a nasty cut. Species common here include the Blue Pansy, Peacock Pansy, Lesser Grass Blue and many more urban species. Participants will be enthralled with the black and white Cabbage White which is very common here but seldom seen elsewhere. There are some coffee shops a few minutes away. 
May 26th

Butterfly Walk at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (BTNR) with Gan Cheong Weei (775-9242)
Meeting place: Visitor Centre.
Time: 9.30am.

We will be walking on the cycling track on the left (Senapang track). This part of the world used to be a village and the forest have partially reclaimed it. Species regularly found here include the Common Posy, Malayan Egg Fly, Common Mormon, Common Caerulean, Common Faun, a few Sailor species and many more. We hope to see the endangered but magnificent Common Birdwing.  Please bring enough water and mosquito repellent as the walk will last about three hours
Jun 10th

Butterfly Walk at MacRitchie Trail with Steven Neo (433-7509)
Meeting place: Little Sisters of the Poor.
Time: 9.30am.

This trail ends at the car park of SICC. Depending on time and physical fitness of participants, we will decide whether or not to complete the entire trail. Species seen here include the secretive Royal Assyrian, the seasonal Banded Yeoman and the similar-looking Rustic, the very rare Dark Blue Jungle Glory, the very colorful Malay Lacewing and many more commoner species.
Remember to bring enough water and mosquito repellent as the walk will last about three hours.
Jul 15th

Urban Butterfly Walk at East Coast Park with Simon Chan (9-724-3106)
Meeting place: Car Park C4.
Time: 9.30am.

We will be taking a leisurely stroll around this seaside park. Butterflies found here include some mangrove species like the King Crow, Blue Glassy Tiger, Parantica agleoides agleoides and the Common Tiger. Other residents include the Common Palmfly, Common Mormon, Short Banded Sailor and many more. We hope to see the rare Grey Pansy which is quite a common species here. 
East Coast is renowned for its seafood restaurants. As for fast food, there is even a McDonalds here.
Jul 22nd

Butterfly Walk at Bukit Batok Nature Park with Sabrina Tan (452-0482).
Meeting place: Bukit Batok Nature Park Main Car Park.
Time: 9.30am

We will be taking a leisurely stroll in the park which is made up of mostly rubber plantations reclaimed by the forest. Butterflies common here include the forest species Tawny Palmfly, Branded Imperial, Malay Viscount and many urban species also like the Striped Albatross, Painted Jezebel and Lime Butterfly.  Sometimes one can even find the extremely rare Chocolate Albatross and the magnificent but endangered Common Birdwing.

Please bring enough water and insect repellent as the walk will take about three hours.
Aug 19th

Butterfly Walk at Singapore Island Country Club with Gan Cheong Weei (775-9242)
Meeting place: Hut at the intersection of Venus Drive and Island Club Road.
Time: 9.30am.

Species seen here varied from season to season depending on whether there were flowering trees in the forest. Residents include the Commander, Knight, Malay Viscount, Archduke, Five Bar Swordtail, Great Helen, Common Tree Nymph and many more forest denizens.
The Banded Yeoman, Royal Assyrian and Pandita sinope sinope are just some of the more seasonally common species. We hope to see the Dark Blue Jungle Glory which we have not seen for some time now.

Remember to bring enough water and mosquito repellent as the walk will last about three hours.

Urban Butterfly Walk at Fort Canning Park with Simon Chan (9-724-3106)
Meeting place: Dhoby Ghaut MRT control station.
Time: 9.30am

On our way there, we will stop a while at the garden in the middle of Orchard Road. Then we will proceed up Fort Canning hill. Species seen here include Painted Jezebel, Common Mormon, Chocolate Pansy, Common Grass Yellow, Striped Albatross and many more urban residents.

Please bring enough water to last the entire walk which is about 3 hours.

Butterfly Walk at Singapore Botanical Gardens with Gan Cheong Weei (9-7544-174)
Meeting place: Main entrance at the junction of Cluny Road and Napier Road
Time: 9.30am

We will be taking a leisurely stroll within the confines of the garden, which includes a small patch of primary forest. Butterflies seen here include the two rare and endangered species, the Common Birdwing and the Common Rose. Other denizens of this wonderful place are the Painted Jezebel, Striped Albatross, Common Grass Yellow, Common Mormon, Lime Butterfly and many more.

Please bring enough water to last the entire walk of 3 hours.

Butterfly Walk at Bukit Timah Cycling Track with Gan Cheong Weei (775-9242)
We will be taking the trail towards the quarry on the right.
Meeting Place: Visitor Centre.
Time: 9.30am.

Species spotted here include the ever magnificent and endangered Common Birdwing and Common Rose. Others like the Knight, Horsfields Baron, Archduke, Malay Viscount and many more forest denizens can be encountered on this trail. Also not forgetting the recent arrival Autumn Leaf which called Singapore home since Sept 1999.

Please bring enough water to last 3 hours. Insect repellent will be needed for this walk.

Urban Butterfly Walk at Pasir Ris Nature Park with Simon Chan (9-724-3106)
Meeting Place: Pasir Ris MRT station.
Time: 9.30am.

Butterflies seen here include mangrove species like the King Crow, Blue Glassy Tiger, Parantica agleoides agleoides, Plain Banded Awl skipper and many others.
As it is near the town, urban species like the Lime Butterfly and Striped Albatross can occasionally be
seen.

Please bring enough water to last 3 hours. Insect repellent will be good to have for this walk.
